Partnership Award
Yorkshire Forward awarded Balfour Beatty Capital and Partake (a local art partner in Yorkshire), a grant for £10,000 to support the local community engagement initiative at Pinderfields Hospital.
At the start of the construction programme at Pinderfields Hospital, Balfour Beatty Capital made a commitment to deliver a five-year art project with a local secondary school. The Cathedral school (Wakefield's School of the Arts) agreed that it would be a great idea to offer this project to their class of 2007, and as a result this cohort of 150 pupils have received a different art project each year of their secondary school life. Arts and Business (Yorkshire) were impressed with Balfour Beatty Capital's plan to work with a local art partner, Partake, in this sustainable manner and supported Balfour Beatty Capital's investment with a £5,000 grant to launch the partnership.
At the end of the first, very successful and satisfying year of the project Partake and Balfour Beatty Capital submitted a bid to Yorkshire Forward for their Partnership Award, from which we were delighted to emerge as winners. The award also came with a £10,000 grant which has been invested in the ongoing delivery of arts projects at the new Pinderfields and Pontefract hospitals.
