In roads a number of major schemes are expected to come to market over the coming years. In hospitals, despite recent statements from the UK Department of Health that very large schemes may not be procured through PFI, there is still expected to be a steady stream of small and medium-sized opportunities. In schools, the Building Schools for the Future initiative provides a very significant investment programme with opportunities that suit the skills of the business well.
In addition to its existing sector presence, Balfour Beatty Capital is looking to develop into new areas, particularly where the skills base of other Balfour Beatty Group companies can provide competitive advantage such as in the social housing and accommodation regeneration markets.
