Senior Associate Director, Project Finance
I joined BBCap in July 2006… it was an exciting opportunity having been a financial advisor up to that point in my career. This new role gave me an opportunity to work for the UK’s largest construction company and understand how a project/asset is bid for and created from the start.
My role at BBCap… is as a Senior Associate Director in the Project Finance team. We are responsible for obtaining funding, at the most competitive market terms, from PFI lenders such as SMBC and Barclays, to fund projects at Financial Close. The role is varied and we face different challenges and issues everyday, particularly given the changes in the financial markets over the last couple of years. In my role, I’ve had the chance to work not only in England, but on PFI projects in Ireland, Scotland, Belgium and Singapore.
Our Company values… are the basis on which organisations are perceived and understood. The values of Integrity Teamwork Excellence and Respect are the basis on which we look for Balfour Beatty individuals to act, both internally with their colleagues but also in their dealings with advisers and most importantly our clients. It’s interesting that since they were developed in 2007, people have acknowledged that is what we do anyhow, that is our culture and describing our values is just another way of describing our people and how we achieve our objectives.
The people I work with… are brilliant fun. They have varied interests and come from over 20 different nationalities. We work together well in teams, as individuals and socialise together outside of work.
Zero harm… is a market leading initiative to ensure that we as individuals and our colleagues think, consider and change our behaviour to risks in and outside the office environment. It could be what we do when we are driving to clients, do we speed?, are we on the phone and driving. It’s designed to make you think how can you ensure a safe working environment and it’s crucial to ensure the safety of our people and their nearest and dearest.
